Biconical Vessel

Corvilho Necropolis, Santo Tirso, Santo Tirso

Material

Ceramic. Coarse compact fabric, with abundant non-plastic inclusions consisting of medium-grained quartz and fine mica. Brown surface, simply smoothed and heavily worn. Traces of exposure to fire (P51). Partially restored.

Description

Hand-modelled vessel with biconical profile. Everted rim, with rounded lip. Plano-convex base. Decoration consists of a row of four circular protrusions of sub-elliptical profile with rounded bosses (“mammiform” projections).
