Origin

Monte Padrão, Monte Córdova, Santo Tirso.

Material

Ceramic. Compact, well-refined paste with homogeneous firing. Abundant, evenly distributed, well-calibrated non-plastic inclusions composed of quartz, feldspar and, in greater quantity, mica. Smoothed, highly polished surface (P51).

Description

Wheel-thrown jug. S-profile with slightly lowered body. Rim projecting outwards and finished with a rounded lip. Discoidal base providing a full resting surface.

Handle of plano-convex section with rounded edges, attached directly to the lip and to the upper face of the body. The handle ends in three divergent ribs. Decoration composed of three rounded-profile grooves, parallel to one another, placed on the upper face of the body. Wall thickens progressively towards the base.
