Bowl South Gallic Sigillata

Origin

Castro de Alvarelhos, Alvarelhos, Trofa.

Material

Ceramic. Compact, hard paste with homogeneous firing. Non-plastic inclusions composed of calcite specks and very fine feldspar particles. Carefully finished surface with thick, adherent clay slip (R17).

Description

Fragment of rim, wall and base preserving the complete profile of a Drag. 27 bowl. 27. Wall structured in two planes (one third corresponding to the rim and two thirds to the body), marked by a convergent curve creating a pronounced internal carination with angular edge. Short, slightly curved rim with vertical lip of rounded section, thicker than the rim wall. Well-marked internal and external groove. Ring base with oblique development and high, well-defined moulding.
